Posted by Ikhwan on August 01, 2008

VIP (Very Important Programmer) PHP programming contest is organized by K-Ekonomi Melaka, collaboration with Art In Software Sdn Bhd. This event has good opportunity to expose programming culture to everyone that involved. The event will be held on 23rd - 24th August 2008. On 23rd (Sat), interested talks will be given related to Information Technology starting from 11 a.m till 4.30 p.m.

Juara dapat RM1000, yuran penyertaan RM30 berkumpulan 2 orang atau lebih. Aku tertarik nak tengok apa soalan-soalan yg diberikan.

Art In Software Sdn Bhd (AIST) ni kompeni Encik Amran (sameon/rokawa), founder PHP.net.my ni memang aktif dlm PHP community kat Malaysia ni. Aku pernah pergi 1st meetup PHP.net.my beberapa tahun lepas, memang menarik dengar talk dan jumpa local programmers lain.

Kemahuan Yang Rakus

Aku mahukan sebuah laptop.

Real Programmer’s Editor

Posted by Ikhwan on February 01, 2008

xkcd is the absolute source for amazing nerd comic. Today’s strip is a about real programmer’s text editor. You can see the comic here, or read the transcript that I have time-wastingly re-typed below.

nano? Real programmers use emacs.

Hey. Real programmers use vim.

Well, real programmers use ed.

No, real programmers use cat.

Real programmers use a magnetized needle and a steady hand.

Excuse me, but real programmers use butterflies.
They open their hands and let the delicate wings flap once.
The disturbance ripples outward, changing the flow of the eddy currents in the upper atmosphere.
These cause momentary pockets of higher-pressure air to form, which act as lenses that deflect incoming cosmic rays, focusing them to strike the drive platter and flip the desired bit.

Nice. ‘course, there’s an emacs command to do that.

Oh yeah! Good ‘ol C-x M-c M-butterfly

Dammit, emacs.

Flirting Editor

Posted by Ikhwan on January 28, 2008

Read reddit this morning like the usual, and there’s this link titled “My editor is flirting with me“.

That being in programming.reddit.com, I spontaneously thought that it’s about an Emacs mode or something that would print out some flowery text at the command buffer, created by some sorry coder living in a dark basement, deprecated of love.

Actually, it is not :D

Two Steps To Enjoy Life As A Programmer

Posted by Ikhwan on January 21, 2008

Step 1 : Quickly become as skillful as possible, like über-skilled or something, like get 10 man hours work done in 1 hour, and get yourself paid a filthy lotsa money.

Step 2 : Enjoy life.

Real IT Dudes Call ‘Em “Machines”

Posted by Ikhwan on December 25, 2007

When an IT guy says “machine”, you should intuitively know that he is, most of the time, referring to a computer, a PC, a server, or even a laptop. We call them “machines” ‘coz it sounds so darn freakin’ cool and macho.

Looks like it's gonna be a while
